All town of Vernon Fire Department companies, and firefighters from Bolton, Coventry, Ellington, Tolland and Willington battled the fire.

A large brush fire in Vernon will continue to smolder overnight after crews worked to contain it Monday afternoon. Town officials said firefighters battled a nine-acre brush fire in the northeast section of town just south of Interstate 84.

Brush fires continued to burn in multiple Connecticut communities early Tuesday morning.Dry, warm conditions created favorable conditions, and crews in many local communities have been busy responding to numerous calls.
