All across the Tampa Bay area, cars were submerged from Hurricane Helene's record-breaking storm surge. It's been inundating rental car companies and automotive shops from car owners wondering if their car is repairable.

Meanwhile 82 Republicans voted to shut down the government as a catastrophic storm prepared to devastate a quarter of the country.

Just days after Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida as a Category 4 storm, Tampa Bay residents continue to see the storm's impact throughout the area.

With the worst of Hurricane Helene yet to impact the Tampa Bay region early Thursday, area school districts announced they would remain closed on Friday. Officials said the extra time off will allow them to clear campuses that have been used as evacuation shelters,and to assess and fix storm damage.

Hurricane Helene claimed over 90 lives across the Southeast with widespread damage to infrastructure and communities.
