Days after Helene struck Florida's Big Bend coast as a Category 4 hurricane, Milton rapidly intensified into a hurricane and appeared to aim at Florida.

People across Florida were given notice Sunday that Hurricane Milton is expected to intensify rapidly into a major hurricane before slamming midweek into the storm-ravaged Gulf Coast.

Gulf Coast residents who are still reeling from Helene were told to prepare for a “dangerous situation” as Milton gathers strength.
