Launched in 2022, Amazon Today allows retailers who sell on Amazon to offer speedy delivery from their brick-and-mortar stores and shopping malls in select cities. Amazon’s contracted Flex drivers, which make deliveries using their own vehicles, fetch the packages and drop them at customers’ doorsteps within hours of when the orders were placed.

Amazon Today will shut down by December 2 as part of the company’s cost-cutting efforts. Retailers will continue fulfilling orders until January 2025, marking a shift in Amazon's delivery strategy.

The tech titan is sunsetting a same-day delivery program that enabled customers to order directly from stores of retailers like Fabletics and PacSun.

Amazon is set to end its same-day delivery service for items from mall and brick-and-mortar retailers, according to a report. CNBC reported that the company has also halted new developments for its Amazon Today service and is planning to wind it down.
