Southern Mississippi football coach Will Hall was fired Sunday after a 1-6 start to his fourth season and assistant head coach Reed Stringer was named interim coach for the rest of the season. Hall was 14-30 following a 44-28 home loss to Arkansas State.

Southern Miss has fired coach Will Hall, ending his tenure at 14-30 over four seasons, it was announced Sunday. Hall will be owed nearly $860,000, per his contract. The Golden Eagles are 1-6 this season after Saturday's 44-28 loss to Arkansas State.
