Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, was released from prison on Thursday, a day after she was granted bail in a case linked to the illegal sale of state gifts, ending about nine months of imprisonment.

The wife of Pakistan’s imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan was released from a high-security prison in the garrison city of Rawalpindi on Thursday, a day after a court granted her bail in a graft case.

Imran and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were apprehended in the case on July 13, following their acquittal in the Iddat case the same day. The next day, the already imprisoned politician was “ arrested ” in connection with a dozen May 9 cases.

In the days before the February polls, Bibi was convicted of graft and illegal marriage alongside opposition leader Khan in what he claimed was a campaign to sideline him from the vote

Bushra Bibi has been released in the Toshakhana 2.0 case. Additional security forces have been deployed at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, with Bushra Bibi's release. The jail administration plans to complete legal formalities after receiving the release order.
